How to "really" remove the PixJet® driver

Techsoft PixJet® is not an ordinary program, it is a driver. And drivers in Windows behave differently from programs. Especially when it comes to installation and uninstallation. Windows often "keeps" drivers, even though you have uninstalled them.

So, if, for some reason, you seem to be unable to remove PixJet completely using Control panel, or if you have downloaded a new version of PixJet® and it won't install, please try the following method:

  • Reboot the PC
  • In Control Panel, Choose Add/remove programs and remove PixJet
  • In Control Panel, open "Printers and faxes"
  • Right click the "Printers and faxes" window and choose "Server Properties" (In Windows 7, left-click any printer in the window and choose "Server Properties")
  • Click on the "Drivers" tab and choose PixJet 7. Click "Delete"
  • Click the "Port" tab and choose PixJet Virtual Port and click "Delete"

Now, reboot the PC again and then delete all occurrences on your system of the following files:

  • PixLocalUi.dll
  • PixLocalMon.dll
  • PjTsf.dll
  • PjTsfFmt.dll
  • PjTsfsub.dll
  • PjTsfJ2.dll
  • PjTsfhdr.dll
  • PjPix.dll
  • PjUtil.dll
  • PjTspdf.dll

The best way to do this is maybe to use the Search feature in Windows. Go into "Advanced Search" and make sure you search all of your system for these files, including non-indexed, hidden and system files and folders.

Search for files using the following criteria: "Pix*.dll, Pj*.dll".
Caution: Make sure you only delete files that exactly match the filenames listed above.
